ΠΡΟΣΩΠΟ

Η Εμμανουέλα Κακαβιά έχει ολοκληρώσει τρεις εργαστηριακές σχολές Βυζαντινής τέχνης (εργαστήρια: Θ. Πέτρου, Δ. Χατζηαποστόλου και Ι. Κόρδη), μαθήματα ελεύθερου σχεδίου και το εκπαιδευτικό πρόγραμμα «Δημιουργώντας κόμικς: Ιστορία, Γλώσσα, Είδη και Τεχνικές Αφήγησης» του Εθνικού Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Έχει κρατικό πτυχίο Σκηνοθεσίας Τηλεόρασης, καθώς και πτυχίο της Σχολής Ανθρωπιστικών και Κοινωνικών Επιστημών Κύπρου στον Ελληνικό Πολιτισμό με κατεύθυνση Ιστορία–Αρχαιολογία–Τέχνη. Από το 2018 είναι μέλος της ΙΒΒΥ, ως εικονογράφος, καθώς και μέλος του AOI (Association of Illustrators).
Έχει εργασθεί για την ΕΡΤ, στο τμήμα παραγωγής πολιτικών εκπομπών και για ιδιωτικές εταιρείες τηλεοπτικών παραγωγών στο τμήμα παραγωγής πολιτιστικών εκπομπών. Από το 2010 εικονογραφεί παραμύθια για παιδιά και μεγάλους, πολλά από τα οποία έχουν ήδη εκδοθεί. Το 2019, κέρδισε το A΄ Design Award στην κατηγορία Graphics and Visual Communication Design Award για την εικονογράφηση παιδικού βιβλίου με τίτλο «Θεογονία. Η αρχή των μύθων».
Από το 2021, δραστηριοποιείται επιπλέον στον σχεδιασμό μεταξωτών μαντηλιών με θεματική από τις μη διαδεδομένες πτυχές του ελληνικού πολιτισμού ιδρύοντας τους CultTour (https://www.culttour.gr/).
H Εμμανουέλα είναι μητέρα δύο παιδιών και ζει στην Αθήνα με την οικογένειά της.

Emmanuela Kakavia has completed three workshop courses on Byzantine Art (Workshops of: Th. Petrou, D. Chatziapostolou and I. Kordi), she has attended courses on freehand drawing as well as the educational programme entitled “Making comics: History, Language, Types and Narrative Techniques” of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She holds a State-issued degree on Television Directing and a Bachelor’s Degree in “Studies in Hellenic Culture”, with a specialization in the academic track of History-Archaeology-Art, from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Cyprus. As an illustrator, she has been a member of IBBY (International Board on Books for Young people) since 2018 and is also a member of AOI (Association of illustrators).
Emmanuela has worked in the political programme production department of ERT (the state-owned Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation) and has also worked for private television production companies in the departments of cultural programmes. She has been illustrating fairy tale books for younger and older readers since 2010, many of which have been published. In 2019 she won the A’ Design Award in the category of Graphics and Visual Communication Design Award for her illustrations in the children’s book entitled “Theogony. The beginnings of myths”. In 2021 she became the co-founder of CultTour (https://www.culttour.gr/) and since then she has working in the design of customized silk scarves with patterns relating to the lesser-known aspects of the Greek Cultural past.
Emmanuela is a mother of two and lives in Athens with her family.
